It's Mr. and Mrs. Mouse! They are a pair of Long-tailed Field Mice, their other name is the Wood Mouse. The Wood Mouse is getting rather rare in the UK now, and they are a protected species. They're not very rare in my garden though! They're all over the place, but we only see them at night as they're nocturnal. The photos were taken through my not very clean kitchen window.

You did really well to photograph your garden visitors. We have lots of wildlife in our garden too. The bandicoots are my favourites. I remember an incident with a field mouse which we had picked up while on a walking trip to the canal. We thought it was really cute but it had my mother nearly hysterical as she was scared it was a health risk. I wonder if it was the same variety as your visitors?
Do I know you, thylacine? Your story about the fieldmouse and your mother and the canal sounds very familiar. What is a bandicoot and which country do you live in?
The dictionary defines bandicoot as any of small omnivorous somewhat ratlike Australian and New Guinean marsupials of the families Paramelidae and Peroryctidea which doesn't really do them justice. They are very cute, gentle creatures and a delight to watch in the garden. My mother probably wouldn't have liked them!
Australia is home to many wierd and wonderful creatures!
Including me! Many claim to still see me in remote areas even though officially I'm extinct.
